This week, we got together with residents, councillors and the developers of our new affordable homes in Essendon Hill, to celebrate the official opening with the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Lynne Sparks.
A rural location
We acquired the land in 2013; when the seven unoccupied post-war bungalows built there were unoccupied. In their place, we have built six brand new properties – four two-bed bungalows and two three-bed houses – for affordable rent and shared ownership. They have been designed to fit in with their rural village location.
Working together to build homes
Taking part in the celebrations was Jon Milburn, Guinness's Director of Development. He said: "The country is facing a severe shortage of new affordable homes so we are pleased to invest in these six new homes in Welwyn Hatfield. I’d like to thank the Homes and Communities Agency and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council for their support for this project."
