Guinness Care delivers a variety of services across the country for people of all ages, with a focus on older people, people with learning and physical disabilities, and people with mental health, dementia and complex needs. We offer care and support services to people in their communities and their own homes. Our dedicated and skilled teams enable vulnerable people to lead fulfilled, happy lives maintaining their independence safely and securely. Every person using our service is an individual with different needs and aspirations; our aim is to provide a service that respects a person’s dignity and privacy.

Competitive pay and allowances

We're committed to attracting and retaining the best people. Each year we review our salaries in line with the industry to make sure that we're paying you fairly. Working in care and support you'll also be eligible for additional allowances, depending on your shifts.

Flexible working

We offer flexible working opportunities to all of our employees. During employment, these can be discussed with line managers and will be considered fairly and in keeping with business needs.

Annual leave and time off

All of our employees receive a generous leave entitlement. If you work part time this will be calculated on a pro rata basis. You'll also accrue additional annual leave in line with your length of service.


If you're aged 22 or over and not already in a qualifying workplace pension scheme, you'll be automatically enrolled into the Defined Contribution section of the Social Housing Pension Scheme (SHPS). We'll pay into this scheme - as will you - but you can also choose to opt out if you want to.

Maternity, paternity and adoption leave

As a new parent or adoptive parent, you'll be eligible for leave in line with statutory entitlements. Should you qualify for leave, you may also receive enhanced pay over and above the statutory amounts.

Other types of leave

We understand that there are times when you'll need other types of leave to help with life events, and we'll always try our best to accommodate this.

Mileage and car parking expenses

If you have to travel by car for business, you can claim reasonable mileage and parking.

Uniforms, equipment and company mobile phones

We'll give you the uniform and personal protective equipment needed for your role. We'll also provide you with a mobile phone, should you need one for business use.

Eye tests

If you use display screen equipment (DSE) regularly, we'll give you eye care vouchers and provide money towards DSE glasses if prescribed by the optician.

Employee Assistance Programme

We care about the people who work here and all of our employees benefit from access to our Employee Assistance Programme. This is a fully confidential service, run by an external organisation of highly experienced professionals. The services they offer include face-to-face counselling, a stress helpline and tax, fitness and childcare advice. This programme is in place to help our people deal with any personal problems they might have.

Basic training

From the word go, you'll be supported and given the skills and knowledge you need to be confident and effective in your role. New employees complete a range of tailored training programmes which include safeguarding adults, manual handling, medication, emergency first aid, food hygiene, customer service and equality and diversity. In line with government legislation, employees have the opportunity to complete a Health and Social Care Diploma (RQF Level 2) paid for by us. We also offer a buddying and mentoring scheme.

Ongoing development

Great training makes for great success and we offer a wide variety of courses each year to make sure that our employees are equipped with the right skills and knowledge to do their jobs well. Some are mandatory for everyone and some are job specific. We run these courses in the ways that best suit people's needs. This includes courses for managing and leading people providing you with support as you move from one role to another. So as well as face-to-face training, we offer hundreds of courses via e-learning and workbooks. We also welcome requests for training courses that aren't included in our current offering.

Professional qualifications

We support our people to complete approved professional qualifications in order to enhance their skills and future career prospects. In addition to this, you can claim for one subscription to a professional body per year when this is required for your job role.


We take pride in thanking our people for their hard work and we have a number of initiatives in place to reward people, celebrating individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond the normal requirements of the job.

Special projects

We encourage staff to take part in local and national events that we run, such as our annual Creative Times festival, giving staff the opportunity to learn skills and get involved in exciting creative projects.

We listen

We are committed to listening and acting upon employee feedback, ensuring that we all have the opportunity to create a great place to work; each year we run employee surveys to ensure everyone has the chance to tell us what we do well and where we could improve. And our staff forum gives all our people a voice in the business decisions that may affect them.
